Did you ever notice how when you reach into the ocean and try to grab the water, you end up with a fistful of nothing?
But the ocean is still all around you.
I think there's a beach bum code in there somewhere.
"A fistful of nothing" is the illusion of control. You close your hand expecting to have caught something, and the closing is the exact move that guarantees you didn't.
The grip and the emptiness are the same gesture.
I'll have to give this a think.
