The OBX Beach Bum

Blues and Greys

Blues and Greys

This morning the sky came in heavy and layered, dark blue bands stacked over paler ones, with one thin break of light out over the water like somebody left a door cracked.

The ocean took its cue from the sky. A wave stood up, curled, and folded over in that same steel blue, and then the whole thing slid up the beach as a sheet of white foam and spread out thin across the sand.

No pinks. No oranges. No fire.

Sometimes my camera sees blues and greys.

I read somewhere that this color palette promotes tranquility, relaxation, professionalism, and subtle sophistication.

I can vouch for the tranquility. I stood there a good while and nothing in me was in a hurry. Relaxation, yes.

Professionalism - well, as a professional beach bum, I've got that covered.

And subtle sophistication is not a phrase anyone has ever used about me, but I’m willing to let the color palette do the heavy lifting.

The thing about a grey morning is that it isn’t trying to impress anybody.

It just sits there being calm, and if you stand still long enough, some of that rubs off.

So go out there and relax in your subtle sophistication.

I know I will.

Love from here. ❤️
