The OBX Beach Bum

Confessions of a beach bum.

Confessions of a beach bum.

For most of my life, I was the poster child for the Dunning-Kruger effect.

I always thought I was the smartest person in the room, or at least on equal footing with the smartest person.

Especially when there weren't too many people in the room.

I'm self aware enough to know I'm not really that smart, which is why I play a smart guy on facebook.

Which makes me uniquely qualified to be a beach bum philosopher.

The job only has two requirements: enough confidence to hand out wisdom nobody asked for, and enough doubt to suspect it might be nonsense.

Add the sand in my shoes and I've got the whole résumé.

The beach bum philosopher just watches the tide go out, says something profound, and admits he might have made it up.

I appreciate the accolades, but you shouldn't take me too seriously, I don't.

Love from here. ❤
