Joy is different from being happy.
· by Roy Edlund

I was lying in bed listening to my wife sleep, thinking about the twists and turns my life has taken over the last few years. I was thinking about joy and how easy it is to lose sight of it.
Joy is different from being happy. It's deeper and can exist even when circumstances aren't optimal.
I can't say I'm happy about the way things are going, but I can take a moment and slip into my wife's dreams while she sleeps and that brings me joy.
It freaks her out, but I'm sure I saw some joy as she chased me out screaming about boundaries.
That's when I woke up and asked her if that really happened.
Let's just say she wasn't happy, but there was some joy, I think.
Love from here. ❤️
