The View From the Dune
· by Roy Edlund

That first view walking onto the beach is a moment all its own.
You climb the steps, walk past the sea oats, feel the sea breeze in your face, hear the calming roar of the waves, breathe deep the salty air, and there it is - the whole beach laid out below you.
The multi-color umbrellas, kids playing tag with the waves, and at least one guy losing a fight with a pop-up tent.
You’re on top of the world, and from up there all those people look so small.
That view is amazing. It just isn’t the truth. Those folks aren’t small, and being above them is an illusion.
Some wisdom works the same way. The kind worth keeping walks you down the stairs, fills your shoes with sand, and sets you on the beach with everyone else.
From the top of the dune, everyone looks small. That’s not the truth, it’s the view. Be wary of wisdom that needs the height. Beach Bum Code #28
